This is a gorgeous shabby chic vintage inspired potpourri that I make every year. I make it weeks in advance, then place bowls of it through out my home. I also like to make surplus which I box or bag and give as special gifts.
You will need:
- An airtight bag to hold everything in.
- Pine cones – I gave mine a quick lick of white chalk paint
- Essential oil blend
- 8 drops of frankincense
- 8 drops sandalwood
- 8 drops grapefruit
- 1 tbsp of orris root. This powder is excellent for fixing and hold fragrances.
Allow to rest for a good 24/48 hours before displaying. However, you might like to blend surplus oils and simply drop onto cones to refresh and liven up fragrance.
To display I use a pretty crystal bowl or similar. Into the base I added some air-dry clay leaves I have on hand all the time – see video on how easy they are to make here: https://youtu.be/Msimiq_X5O0
Top with essential oil infused cones.
Dress to embellish further with Star anise seeds, Cinnamon sticks Nutmeg etc.
