I feel as if I’m the luckiest person alive and most grateful to my neighbour who has an oversized garden and grows me things that are too big for mine. This year I asked if she could grow artichokes. I had plans to eat them, but when they arrived at my front door. I almost wept with delight. Far too visually nice to eat!
If you have access to them, here is a design or two to try out… they are big and they are bold and they are heavy, so whatever container you select, ensure it’s tough, weight and sturdy.
- I’m using a heavy wooden trough which I’ve lined to make water proof.
- Foam to fill or just line the inside with short canning jars.
- Foliage of your choice - I like lambs’ ear along with magnolia!
