I’ve had a lot of requests for a Constance Spry design of end of summer gatherings. By this I mean, seed heads, grassed and the dulling tonal values that come long after the summer has gone, and before the frost hit home.

Constance Spry taught us all that there is beauty in every season and that the Botanical world was a constant supplier of all that one needed to create something beautiful regardless of the season. She also had this wonderful quote I’ve live by for years. ‘The difference between a weed and a flower, is but a mere opinion’, isn’t that great? I love it.

So, the request has been more towards, the dull tonal monochromatic colourings.

Let’s look at what you will need to gather:
Container – to keep it formalish, look for a classic urn, or to make the design more rustic – perhaps white washed tin.
- Paper daisies, billy buttons – just because I love the look of those darling little rounded forms & they give a nice pop of dullish life.
- Gum pods, greyish spiral gum, allium seed heads and just whatever you can find. I’m a bit off brief here, but these are the gatherings I love!
