What I love about the botanical world is that with each season the colours offered up never fail to create uplifting emotions of joy. The spring offers up bright crisp and vibrant colours to invigorate after a long wintering. Come the summer when the temperature is warm, just like that cool blues appear – blue hydrangea, delphiniums, larkspur, cornflower and one of my all-time favourites, Tweedia or as I like to call it, Tweedia blue.
Often, I am asked what works best with this gorgeous flower and to that I always say, either little tea or spray roses (the one I’m using is known as Maria), or the lovely rounded forms of white carnations.
What’s not to like about classic whites and blues. Regardless of the décor of any room, the colourway never looks out of place. When faced with the container decision, my tip is to focus on the prominent or that being showcased, which in this design is the blue of the TWEEDIA!
Things to gather:
- Wedgewood blue and white container. See video on how to create your own: https://youtu.be/UkV6_-bD_do
- Glass vase saucer
- Foam or chicken mess wire to fill cavity of glass saucer.
- Floral snips.
- 10 stems of white carnations or roses
- 5 stems of blue tweedia.
