if you can’t be bothered hunting for all the ingredients, my friends at http://www.purenature.co.nz have wonderful kits all ready to go with absolutely everything you need – and the best part the kit makes 10. Let them know Astar sent you!
I have been making my own lipsticks for years and my basic recipe is as follows:
- 1 tsp beeswax
- 1tsp shea butter or cocoa butter
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- Red oxide pigment
- Lipstick case
- 10ml syringe
- Freezer
- Sharp knife
Method:
Before starting, roll down lipstick tube to the very base. Put all ingredients except red oxide or mica powder colour of your choice into a double boiler. When melted add mica powder or oxide and stir to combine well.
Draw mix up into syringe then push/plunge down into lipstick case until you reach the top opening. Allow to set on its own naturally or place in freezer. Once fully set, rollup lipstick container and slice off the tip so you have a nice angled edge – just like a commercial brand.
