A Woodland Fairy-Tale Table Design - complete with LIGHT-UP toadstools!

Channels / Arts and Crafts Tutorials

I’ve had many requests of late for quick and easy table flower designs. I’m not sure why so many think these are difficult to create because they are not. The hardest part is deciding on the theme. My approach is to keep things neutral in colour or a base that once established can be further enhance.

I like to create a base using permanent botanicals that can have fresh added as and when desired. Once the base is in, then it’s just a matter of bringing it out and dressing. With Fall, Thanksgiving and the holiday season by the time you sort the menu, do the shopping and hours of cooking, time can slip away. This design should be called ‘time-saving’ because that’s exactly what it does. It comes in and out of storage, gets plonked on the table and when I’m doing the food shopping, I grab whatever flowers are available or growing in my garden

Things to gather:
- The base is a tree branch. Any old tree branch will do.
- Battery powered seed lights. The length needs to be twice the length of your wood because the lights will be turned into little button mushrooms. So easy to make, visually interesting and a talking point.
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks.
- Eucalyptus garland base or you might like to use magnolia.
- Selection of other eucalyptus foliage’s, gum nuts and berries.
