I found a stencil cut - floral designed fabric table placemat as my vase surround/cover.
I then used matching thread to stitch it around the glass vase.
Slant cut stems and remove any foliage that will be below water level, to a desired length, then place down inside vase.
Use the same placemat to place design once finished for display on table surface.
