Formal flowers for the holidays, Christmas & New Year celebrations!

To create something grand and visually magnificent isn’t hard! Size is the key and your container choice along with botanical’s used will make the job much easier.

This time of the year is always busy, and my key to success and in looking like I can do it all, is to create a design that can be carried over into other occasions and events. I want something formal this year so I’m using an old classic silver wine bucket. This will help give that grand appearance plus the raised foot or base gives me more height.

I’m also using silver baubles which I’ll suspend from my base foliage. I could just use stemmed foliage, but by using a pre-made magnolia wreath, once placed that is it. A lot of work is covered in one hit.

Secure the wreath to the side handles of your bucket or if yours doesn’t come with these, simply use tape to hold the wreath in place.
Use the swinger threads to position the baubles to cascade and hang down from the wreath. By doing this you bring visual bulk to the container and also bring in another silver form which will help to diffuse the heavy sight of the bucket. These are little design tricks that also add visual value to the completed design.

Other materials to gather –
- 3 each of both white and green hydrangea.
- 5 white lilacs.
- 4 white peonies.
- 4 red roses.
- 3 or 4 white lilies.

Note – my design uses all artificial or permanents which means it will last. To visually cheat, add in a few fresh flowers!
